Charcoal Substrate for Springtails

Charcoal substrate is an excellent, clean medium for culturing springtails. It provides a porous surface for springtails to live and reproduce while making them easy to harvest and transfer into terrariums, vivariums, and bioactive enclosures.

For best results, keep the charcoal consistently moist with a shallow layer of dechlorinated or distilled water at the bottom of the culture. Fine to medium charcoal pieces generally work better than charcoal dust alone because the spaces between pieces provide additional usable surface area.
